-OBJECTION: There’s more than one way to heaven; all religions are roads leading to the same place. It’s bigoted to think otherwise.
-RESPONSE: I suppose you could be right on the bigot claim if I, within myself, demanded that all people believe Christianity simply because I believe it. Yet, that’s not that case. If Christianity is true, then it’s the only right way because the principal Object, God (Jesus), declares He’s the only way of salvation. The idea of “all roads leading to the same place” is NOT what Scripture teaches.
In fact, it boldly and repeatedly claims that there is no other means of access to God apart from Jesus Christ (rf. Jn 3:36, 8:24,14:6; Acts 4:12). While it may be sensible, non-threatening, and polite to believe that “all religions get you to the same place,” the Bible doesn’t allow that idea as an option. What will you believe, the words of Scripture or your own ideas and sensibilities?
Also, I understand why this might violate your sensibilities, but consider the following for a moment. God created everything, including you, and provides revelation of Himself through a collection of books known as the Bible. In it, He tells you what He is like, what He abhors, and explains things about yourself from the Fall (i.e. mankind=sinful/doomed). To remedy this, He comes to earth, is disbelieved and mistreated by those whom He created, suffers a horrible, agonizing death on a cross, and rises from the dead to save mankind, being their ONLY possible hope. With that said, if “all roads lead to the same place,” then (1) God/Jesus is a liar, (2) He died a gruesome death in vain because it was NOT necessary, and (3) He’s not all-knowing (otherwise, He could not have made such a mistake). The other option is the Biblical one: He’s God, He sets salvation on His terms, and He’s the only hope. Repent of your sins and trust Christ, my friend.
